Abstract
This paper proposes a timing synchronization algorithm based on digital radio mondiale (DRM) system. This method does not need additional auxiliary data and can be realized only by using signal redundancy. It can make full use of the pilot symbols in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals based on DRM system. It can eliminate the sign ambiguity of the signal and find the sign at the beginning of the first frame. Timing synchronization can be achieved by maximum likelihood (ML) estimation and energy detection by cross correlation calculation between symbols. Therefore, the timing synchronization algorithm proposed in this paper effectively reduces the system overhead. Theoretical algorithm analysis and result simulation are presented.
