Tree growth, production and huanglongbing incidence of sweet orange varieties using different nursery tree standards

•Headed nursery trees increased the cumulative fruit yield of sweet orange by 30 %.•Differences in the tree size and yield were larger for less vigorous scion varieties.•HLB incidence was similar regardless of the scion variety and nursery tree standard.•Headed nursery trees have greater potential for orchard resetting than whipped trees.
