Abstract
•A mathematical model for drop breakup time in turbulent dispersions is constructed.•The breakup time model was validated by comparing with the experimental data.•Influences of drop diameter, drop viscosity, interfacial tension, and Weber number on drop breakup time were analyzed.•Performances of the breakup time model were illustrated by calculating examples.
