Abstract
In this paper, we commented on the article titled "1-methyl-2,4,5-trinitroimidazole (MTNI), a meltcast explosive: synthesis and studies on thermal behavior in presence of explosive ingredients" by Anniyappan et al. The process conditions for the synthesis of MTNI reported in Anniyappan's article, which expected to realize industrial production of MTNI. However, there are many improper explanations in Anniyappan's manuscript about the thermal decomposition properties of MTNI. Therefore, we propose more reasonable explanations for the thermal decomposition of MTNI.
