摘要

•A methodology to measure strain and strain rate during orthogonal cutting is shown.•The mathematical method uses a single picture of a deformed microgrid.•The method was used with Ti-6Al-4V under plane strain condition.•Obtained values are compared with literature, analytical, FEM and DIC results.
