Precursor Based Tuning of the Nonlinear Optical Properties of Au-Ag Bimetallic Nanoparticles Doped in Oxy-fluoroborate Glasses

•Bimetallic nanoparticles (Au-Ag) have been embedded inside oxy-fluroborate glasses.•Enhanced Non-linear optical properties were found for high concentration of Au nanoparticles.•Overlapping of surface plasmon resonance of Ag and Au has been observed.•Agglomerated particles in silver nitrate glass is found in TEM results.•Silver-nitrate doped glasses shows higher Urbach energy due to high non-bridging oxygens.
