Association of interleukin-17 A gene variants and susceptibility to H. pylori related gastric diseases

•A allele (rs3819024) in IL-17 gene was more frequent in the patients with chronic active gastritis than the controls.•Homozygous rs3819024GG in IL-17 gene was significantly more frequent in the controls than the patients.•AA haplotype (rs4711998A/rs3819024A) in IL-17 gene was more frequent in the patients than the controls.•A allele (rs3819024) and AA haplotype (rs4711998/rs3819024) in IL-17 gene are associated with gastric inflammatory diseases.
