Chloroform-based liquid-liquid extraction and LC–MS/MS quantification of endocannabinoids, cortisol and progesterone in human hair

•Endocannabinoids and steroids were quantified in human hair using LC–MS/MS.•Sensitivity, accuracy and precision were comparable to existing methods.•This method is far simpler, quicker and cost-effective compared to existing methods.•Application showed negative correlation between hair anandamide and saliva cortisol.
