•Time-restricted feeding modulates cellular metabolic regulators that executed circadian oscillation and host metabolism.•Time-restricted feeding improves metabolic rhythm as well as nutrient-sensing regulation including glucose, protein, and lipids through multiple signaling pathways that ultimately resulted in better fitness.•At a molecular level, the circadian coordination with nutrient-sensing pathways triggered by time-restricted feeding prevent chronic diseases.
