Utility of Prophylactic Cranial Irradiation for Limited Stage Small Cell Lung Cancer in the Modern Era with Magnetic Resonance Imaging Surveillance

•Benefit of PCI in LS-SCLC remains unclear due to lack of modern prospective data.•PCI improved neurological survival but not overall survival in stage II–III score matched cohort.•Significant decline in incidence of brain metastases was seen with addition of PCI.•Large prospective studies are needed to elucidate overall survival benefit of PCI in modern era.
