Perception of gender discrimination among spine surgeons across Latin America: a web-based survey

•Gender discrimination and sexual harassment were common among female spine surgeons.•Female spine surgeons felt disadvantaged much more often than male spine surgeons.•The majority of women were discouraged due to gender from their specialty choice.•All of these occurrences were rare among male spine surgeons.
