Mexico is undergoing an intense epidemiologic transition characterised by a decline in the incidence of infectious diaeases and a rapid increaae in the importance of chronic illnesses and accidents . As the Constitutional ammendment establishing the right to the protection of health implies the importance of research for the solution of health problems, a subset o Mexican institutions involved in health research are analysed, from the bibliometric point of view, matching their activities and productivity against stated health policy aims.
