Here we present the synthesis and redox properties of a selection of boron subphthalocyanine dimers that are either connected by an oligoyne bridge via the axial boron atoms or via peripheral positions on the cyclic cores. The compounds were prepared by oxidative homodimerization reactions under Glaser-Hay conditions. Moreover, we show that the axial and peripheral terminal alkyne precursors can be subjected to Sonogashira coupling reactions, allowing the introduction of pyridyl end-groups.[GRAPHICS].
