Nihon no kaigo: Keizai bunseki ni motozuku jittai haaku to seisaku hyōka (The Japanese Long-Term Care: Understanding the Current Status and Policy Evaluation Based on Economic Analysis)

The authors of this book provide empirical evidence and discuss policies to improve the Japanese long-term care insurance (LTCI) system and long-term care market. The book consists of three parts. The first part explains the LTCI system and the characteristics of elderly long-term care needs in Japan. The second part provides evidence from the authors’ published papers using Japanese data. This highly important empirical work clarifies the sources of inefficiency and policy effects in the LTCI system. In the final part, policy implications and suggestions are described. Chapter 1 provides background data such as the population size of elderly with long-term care needs and the expenditures of the LTCI system.
