Transesterification of tree-born oil with novel magnetic biobased heteropolyacid prepared via in-situ reaction

•A novel magnetic biobased heteropolyacid catalyst was prepared via in-situ reaction.•The conditions of phosphonation and in-situ reaction were optimized.•The catalyst performed efficiently in transesterification of tree-born seed oil.•The catalyst showed excellent stability after recycling for six runs.
