Temperature measurement assisted modal tracking of an instrumented building

•Temperature based models are used to assist the modal tracking.•A building is monitored with a low density/low resolution sensor system.•The methodology is tested on data obtain during damaging earthquake.•The diurnal and seasonal variation of temperature and modal frequency is modeled separately.•OPTICS is used to extract the modal response from the long term identification.
