Abstract
In the work, a novel inflaming retarder (EDPP) was synthesized by using 9, 10-dihydro-10 [2,3-bis(hydroxy carbonyl) propyl]-10-phospho-10-oxide, ethylene glycol and phenylphosphonic dichloride as raw materials, and it was incorporated with PLLA. FTIR and (HNMR)-H-1 confirmed the synthesis of EDPP product. SEM and EDS showed EDPP dispersed evenly in PLLA matrix. When the blend ratio of EDPP/PLLA was 10 wt%, its limit oxygen index (LOI) and UL-94 vertical burning grade were 36.4% and V-0, respectively. The corresponding inflaming retarding mechanism was put forward. Moreover, the incorporation of EDPP had little effect on tensile strength of PLLA, and improved its toughness. Then the flame-retarded EDPP/PLLA would be promising in environmental applications. (C) 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
