摘要
This paper presents a dual-polarized antenna covering both 28- and 39-GHz bands for 5G mobile communications. The design consists of two discrete elements - a folded dipole and a folded monopole, which generate two orthogonal polarizations. Parasitic elements are used to realize the higher-band operation. The entire structure is designed on an ultra-thin four-layer laminate and is intended to be incorporated along the edges of smartphones to enable 5G operation. The folded dipole features 6.2 GHz (22.1%) bandwidth in the 28-GHz band and 2.3 GHz ( 5.9%) in the 39-GHz band; the folded monopole has 6.8 GHz (24.3%) and 2.2 GHz (5.9%) bandwidth in the two aforementioned bands, respectively. The simulated peak gain of the folded dipole and monopole are both 5.5 dBi in the 28-GHz band, and 5.6 dBi and 3.7 dBi respectively in the 39-GHz band. The overall dimensions of the antenna are 6.75 mm x 5 mm.
