Abstract
In this paper, a design of a substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) structure that can switch between a filter and a broadside radiating antenna is proposed and used as a feeding network for a quasi-Yagi-Uda antenna. The resultant structure is a single-layer PIN-diode switchable broadside to end-fire antenna working at 2.5 GHz. Based on the simulation results, the antenna efficiency for both operating states is expected to be more than 90% with the broadside maximum realized gain of 5.1 dBi and end-fire maximum realized gain of 3.8 dBi.
