Electrochemical investigations on low cost KOH activated carbon derived from orange-peel and polyaniline for hybrid supercapacitors

•The structural and functional properties of biomass-derived electrodes are discussed.•BET surface area of 904 m2g−1 proved to be an encouraging precursor.•Biomass-derived carbons could obtain superior capacitance and stability.•The performance of nanocomposite-based electrodes is strangely improved.
