Abstract
•Nix-V@HSS catalysts with Ni-VOx structure were used in dry reforming of methane.•Ni9.6-V@HSS catalyst showed the best activity and sintering-/coke-resistance.•Ni-VOx strucure induced acceleration of both CH4 and CO2 activation.•The VOx species promoted CH4 activation by supplying electrons to adjacent Ni sites.•The enhanced CO2 dissociation by more oxygen vacancies resisted coke formation.
