Optimal Configuration Method of Dynamic Reactive Power Compensation Device Considering Reducing Commutation Failure Risk of Multi-infeed DC System

With the continuous advancement of China's social development and energy structure adjustment, HVDC technology has outstanding advantages in breaking the uneven distribution of regional energy resources, easing the bottleneck of resource utilization and improving the efficiency of resource operation. However, the continuous commutation failure in the inverter side of the multi-infeed DC system is easy to cause continuous commutation failure. Dynamic reactive power compensation device(DRPCD) can effectively provide reactive power support and reduce the risk of commutation failure. In order to restrain commutation failure of multi-infeed DC system, this paper proposes an optimal configuration method of DRPCD for multi-infeed DC system, optimizing the installation location, type and capacity at the same time. The method is then verified by simulation in an actual example of East China power grid. The results show that the configuration method of the DRPCD can effectively restrain the risk of continuous commutation failure of multi infeed DC system caused by AC fault while considering the economy.
