Abstract
•Mid-infrared luminescence of Dy3+ in a novel Ga-Sb-S-I glass host is studied.•The Dy3+-doped glasses show good thermal stability against crystallization.•The Dy3+-doped glasses show intense mid-infrared emissions.•The core-cladding fibers are drawn by the traditional rod-in-tube technique.•The fiber shows the minimum loss of 1.9 dB/m at 6 µm.
