Energy Management Strategy of Fuel Cell Hybrid Electric Vehicle Based on Dynamic Programming

With the increasing number of vehicles around the world, the problem of energy consumption and environmental pollution is becoming more and more serious. The progress of fuel cell hybrid electric vehicles (FCHEVs) has become a representative of energy efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles. Energy management strategy (EMS) is the core technology to realize FCHEV. In order to save energy and improve fuel economy, this paper concentrates on the modeling and energy management of FCHEVs. Firstly, FCHEV model is established. Then, an EMS based on dynamic programming (DP) is designed to obtain the optimal economy of the system, considering the range of State of Charge (SOC) of the battery and the power constraints of the fuel cell and the battery. Finally, simulation results are presented to prove the superiority of the EMS, and provides support for the design of advanced online optimization algorithms in the future.
