Octopus-shaped self-powered motion sensor based on the triboelectric and piezoelectric effect

Multifunctional motion sensors have broad applications in the field of the internet of things (IoT). An octopus-shaped self-powered motion sensor is proposed to monitor the acceleration, motion direction, rotation speed and angle of objects. The charge transfer analysis of the sensor is carried out based on the positive piezoelectric effect, contact electrification effect and electrostatic induction. The influence of the surface microstructure and doping ZnO on the sensor sensitivity is investigated, and the improved film increases the sensor sensitivity by 13.58%. It is found that the output voltage decreases as the frequency increases. At the same frequency, the sensor output voltage amplitude is proportional to the acceleration amplitude. The test results show that the sensor can identify the motor rotation speed and angle, and the linear running direction and the motion state of the sweeping robot. Furthermore, the proposed sensor is cheap and beneficial for large-scale use.
