Funiculars are a common way to get around in Switzerland. A new funicular railway has opened last December. This funicular is the world's steepest, with a 47.7° gradient. The funicular replaced the old one that had operated since 1933. Ivan Steiner, a spokesman for the railway, said, "After 14 years of planning and building, everyone is very proud of this train."
