Synthesis Of 1-Alkyl-1 '-Acetylferrocenes

A novel synthetic method for 1-alkyl-1'-acetylferrocenes (C(n)H(2n+1-)Fc-COCH3, n = 2 similar to 8, Fc = C5H4FeC5H4) was developed. Alkylferrocenoyl chlorides were added into the solution of sodium methoxylate with ethyl acetoacetate, then hydrolytic decarboxylation led to 1-alkyl-1'-acetylferrocenes. The compositions and structures of all compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, IR and H-1 NMR spectra.
