Abstract
Present-day production and consumption patterns have raised alarming concerns over resource scarcity and environmental degradation. So much so that if nothing is done, the sustainability of life is threatened. The concept of Circular Economy provides an overarching system that not only provides the solution to these concerns but also ensures that future generations have resources that they would need. For practical implementation of Circular Economy, Supply Chain Management has a crucial role to play as no business can function without it. Seven key areas of business models, public participation, market/economic challenges, financing, supply chain management, policy, and technological development are identified as both the challenges and once they are aligned in the context of Circular Economy, would become the enabling mechanism for Circular Economy's implementation. There is a greater need for research to expand the knowledge and develop enabling mechanism to foster the adoption of Circular Economy at mass scale.
