易门县地处滇中高原中部,海拔974～2 608 m,国土面积1 530.8 km2,县城距昆明市96 km,距玉溪市146 km.年平均降雨量817.4 mm,年平均气温16.0℃.全县辖4个乡2个街道办1个镇,2015年末总人口165 469人,其中农业人口106 509人;总耕地面积10 507.1 hm2,其中田4 201 hm2、地6 306.1hm2.易门县以市场为导向,以增加农民收入为出发点,从2000年开始实行种植业结构调整,大力培育和发展以冬季蔬菜为主的蔬菜产业取得了明显成效.
