Characterization of electric scooter injuries over 27 months at an urban level 1 trauma center

•E-scooter injuries range from minor to high energy injuries and are unsurvivable in rare instances.•Age >39, early morning injuries, intoxication, motor vehicle involvement, and no helmet use increased risk of major trauma.•Major trauma may be mitigated with helmets, e-scooter designated areas, and regulations for riding under the influence.
