矿区位于龙须门中生代火山岩盆地的北东边缘,是我国重要贵金属成矿带,矿区金矿床类型为广义斑岩型,金矿化主要受下金宝沟花岗斑岩体东侧的构造断裂带控制,金矿体呈平行脉状产出于该带中,共圈定20条金矿体,探明金矿床为大型.因此研究矿区矿床成因及成矿规律,为该区找金突破意义深远.
