星星的亮度——星等是怎么定的? 古希腊天文学家喜帕恰斯(Hipparchus,又名依巴谷)在公元前二世纪便首先提出了星等这个概念,将恒星按照亮度分成等级,选取最亮的20颗作为1等星,最暗的作为6等星,中间又有2～5等星.星等不是线性的:1等星的亮度是6等星的100倍(更亮的为 0等以至负的星等),而我们肉眼能够看到的最暗的星便是6 等星.
