Social anxiety is associated with poor quality of life in adults with epilepsy in Northeast China: A cross-sectional study

•High level of social phobia was associated only with poor quality of life in PWE.•High level of social interaction anxiety was associated with earlier age at onset and low quality of life in patients.•An intervention developed for social anxiety may be useful to improve the quality of life in PWE.
