Toxicity of Mangifera Indica aqueous stem bark extract evaluated in drosophila melanogaster used as model organism

•M. indica stem bark extract at high concentration showed toxic effect in Drosophila melanogaster.•The administration of M. indica decreases the survival rate, emergence of young flies, climbing activity, and antioxidant system in fruit flies.•Though M. indica is beneficial in treating several health conditions, its indiscriminate use and application in herbal medicine should be discouraged.
