Pitch Angle Control for Wind Turbines Using Optimum Torque Control and Real Time Wind Speed

Wind energy conversion systems require efficient and reliable control strategies to achieve optimal performance. A new control technology for a variable pitch wind turbine is introduced in this research, which can provide the best performance. This paper introduces a new control technique in which the optimum torque control approach is used to control the wind turbine's pitch angle to regulate the wind turbine's speed to ensure that the device failure due to variations in power and wind speed is minimized. A combination of linear control and non-linear dynamic control strategy of state feedback is realized for this multivariable control strategy. The proposed control strategy is validated through simulated results in SIMULINK MATLAB software. The output results show higher efficiency, higher stability, and high rigidity under varying wind speed.
