In this article, a novel 2-D scanning synthetic aperture radar mode for high-resolution and wide-swath imaging is introduced. Instead of the interpulse progressive azimuth beam scanning used in Terrain Observation by Progressive Scans (TOPS) mode, the intrapulse continuous azimuth frequency scanning is employed in this mode.
