Abstract

•Benchmark experiment of the lead worth has been performed on the VENUS-II light water reactor.•The lead target worth was measured and extracted as 142.0 ± 11.3 pcm by a period method. Through the comparison, the MCNP simulated result with JENDL-4.0 shows the slight better agreement with the experiment data.•The lead cross sections have been preliminarily validated, which lays the foundation for the CIADS design.
