•First report regarding investigation of degradation behaviour of Celiprolol hydrochloride under ICH prescribed stress testing conditions.•A total of seven degradation products identified in various forced degradation conditions.•Usage of mass (LC-HRMS and LC–MSn) and NMR (NMR and LC-NMR) tools for the characterization of degradation products.•Mechanistic explanation for the formation of each degradation product.•In silico prediction of ADMET properties of Celiprolol hydrochloride and its degradation products.
