Effects of landscape anthropization on sylvatic mosquito assemblages in a rainforest in Chiapas, Mexico

•Highest species richness was concentrated in the highly anthropized area.•Mosquitoes of the genus Culex dominated the sylvatic mosquito assemblages.•Landscape anthropization modified the abundance of sylvatic mosquito species.•Diversity pattern is consistent with the hypothesis of intermediate disturbance.•Metacommunity is strongly influenced by the gradient of landscape anthropization.
