Benign and borderline phyllodes tumors of the breast: Clinicopathologic analysis of 205 cases with emphasis on the surgical margin status and local recurrence rate

•Surgical margin is frequently positive in benign and borderline phyllodes tumors.•At least half of the patients with a positive surgical margin undergo re-excision.•Local recurrence rate is very low regardless of surgical margin status.•No clinicopathologic difference observed between patients with and without local recurrence.
