FaWRKY11 transcription factor positively regulates resistance to Botrytis cinerea in strawberry fruit

•Agrobacterium-mediated transient transformation was used both to silence and overexpress the FaWRKY11 gene in strawberry fruits (Fragaria ananassa cv. Benihoppe).•FaWRKY11 acts as a positive regular of strawberry fruit resistance to B. cinerea.•The regulatory mechanism of FaWRKY11 in fruit resistance to B. cinerea is associated with diverse signaling mechanisms.
