The In Vitro and In Silico Inhibition Mechanism of Glutathione Reductase by Resorcinol Derivatives: A Molecular Docking Study

•Resorcinol derivatives were investigated as being GR inhibitors both in vitro and in silico.•4-Hexylresorcinol is the most effective inhibitor for human erythrocyte GR.•The derivatives were predicted to be within the acceptable range for Lipinski's rule criteria.•4-Hexylresorcinol can be used in drug design to target the recovery of GSH.•All molecules were estimated to be able to permeate the blood-brain barrier.
