Retrospective analysis of cervical spine clearance in patients with mandibular fractures

Introduction: The association between maxillofacial trauma and C-spine injuries (CSI) is well recognised. NICE guidelines specify that C-spine clearance can occur clinically or radiologically. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the adequacy of C-spine clearance, and identification of CSI in patients undergoing open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) for mandibular fractures at a level I major trauma centre.
