Abstract
Zirconium coating on Zirconium-Niobium alloy substrate was obtained by pulsed current electrodeposition from FLINAK-K2ZrF6 molten salt at 1023 K in argon atmosphere. The microstructure and morphology of the coating were investigated. The adhesion between coating and substrate, porosity of the coating surface was tested. Metallic zirconium crystal of zirconium coating is a hexagonal crystal structure with the preferential growth orientation of (002). The porosity of the coating surface is 1.7%. The adhesion between coating and substrate is good in the scratch test, and the adhesive force of the zirconium coating is 10.5 N. Furthermore, on the inner and outer walls of a 10 mm diameter tube, the same quality zirconium coating can be obtained.
