摘要
Perioperative hyperglycaemia is reported in 40%-90% of surgical patients, depending on diabetes status (2). Large cohort studies on patients with and without diabetes have identified hyperglycaemia as an independent risk factor for poor outcomes when compared to normoglycaemic patients. Despite ongoing debate about the optimal glucose target, there is strong agreement that improving glycaemic control reduces perioperative complications.
