Abstract
•Provision of buprenorphine at scheduled clinic visits as opposed to filling prescriptions at pharmacies may improve outcomes.•We evaluated outcomes pre- and post-implementation of a program that provided patients with buprenorphine at clinic visits.•Retention, adherence, illicit drug use and emergency department utilization significantly improved following implementation.•Survey of patients after program implementation indicated high satisfaction.•Additional studies are needed to determine causality and generalizability.
