Descriptive Review Of Pediatric Heart Failure On Transport

Background: Heart failure (HF) is a challenging diagnosis in pediatrics as the clinical syndrome overlaps with common, benign pediatric diagnoses, putting patients at risk for late recognition. The incidence or outcomes of transport of the pediatric patient with heart failure are unknown. This small high-risk cohort, at risk of arrhythmia, hemodynamic instability and possible cardiac arrest, presents challenges to transport in both diagnosis and management. Methods: Retrospective chart review was performed (4/2013-4/2015) for patients transported with diagnoses related to heart failure.
