•Novel α-β Ti-4.5Al-2.5Fe-0.15O titanium alloy.•The cold drawing process provided a microstructural evolution in α and β phase.•Plastic strain was accommodated higher in β phase than in α phase.•At higher drawing reduction, α and β phase accommodated similar plastic strain.
