Research on Coordinate Control of Solid State Transformer and SMES for Microgrid

This paper presents a coordinate power control of solid state transformer (SST) and Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage (SMES) for microgrid. Under normal working conditions, the SST will control the power exchange among the AC micro grid, SMES and the DC micro grid. SMES stores the excess energy from the grid and distributed energy resource (DER). When short-time grounding fault occurs on dc side, SMES is controlled to stabilize the DC side voltage by charging and discharging, improving fault ride-through capability of Microgrid. And a Matlab/Simulink model is demonstrated to validate the correctness of the coordinate control method.
