Development and performance evaluation of tropospheric scintillation model on Ku-band satellite link over Akure, Nigeria

•Concurrent measurement of radio beacon & meteorological parameters was carried out.•Scintillation intensity, enhancement & fade models were developed from measured data.•Performance of developed model was compared with nine existing scintillation models.•The model reflects prediction accuracy & climatological uniqueness of this location.•Symmetry of fade and enhancements plus minimal error validate goodness of the model.
